When the young weavers heard that visitors were coming, the children did as their parents do: they brought a manta to lay on the ground and placed on it a selection of family belts that were woven to sell.
This young weaver is learning the village patterns. Here she makes a jakima, a narrow beginner's "ribbon" of weaving. She is also taking care of her younger sister who will some day be weaving jakimas too.
Little children like to be part of the weaving process,
to sit beside their older siblings, learning by being close and watching.
