Hat Knitted by Yolanda

Yolanda, Nilda's niece, knitted this traditional hat with ear flaps which is worn by men in Andean communities. Simplified versions of the hat are made as trade goods for export--sometimes they are worn by skiers in the United States. The genuine object is tightly knit with small designs and a skillful interlocking of color on the reverse side.
