Yolanda, Nilda's niece, knitted this traditional hat with
ear flaps which is worn by men
in Andean communities. Simplified versions of the hat are made as trade
goods for export--sometimes they are worn by skiers in the United States.
The genuine object is tightly knit with small designs and a skillful interlocking
of color on the reverse side.
