Up and Around Chinchero

Members of the Chinchero community walk on paths between fields, steep slopes, walls, and terraces.

It is not surprising that the emperor Tupa Inca chose Chinchero to build his country estate. Chinchero is full of surprises and contrasts--steep slopes, stone outcroppings, water emerging from hidden springs, and glimpses of the sacred snow mountains which are visible on clear days all year long.
